Blake Fall-Conroy, “Minimum Wage Machine,” 2008-2010
This machine allows anyone to work for minimum wage for as long as they like. Turning the crank on the side releases one penny every 4.97 seconds, for a total of $7.25 per hour. This corresponds to minimum wage for a person in New York.
This piece is brilliant on multiple levels, particularly as social commentary. Without a doubt, most people who started operating the machine for fun would quickly grow disheartened and stop when realizing just how little they’re earning by turning this mindless crank. A person would then conceivably realize that this is what nearly two million people in the United States do every day…at much harder jobs than turning a crank. This turns the piece into a simple, yet effective argument for raising the minimum wage.
okay i have your attention and now it goes like this,
with the £400 we’ve all managed to scrape together, via your donations (which i really can’t thank you enough for) and my own savings, i can pay the bills until the 31st of october.
yeah.
i don’t know how to say it, but it’s most likely that we are going to be homeless by november, december at the very latest.
£4500 is a lot of money, and when you factor in the fact that not only do you need to somehow scrape together more money than you’ve ever held in your entire life just to pay for moving and a deposit on a new place, but you need to do that while paying for heating in the suddenly exceptionally cold autumn/winter weather, food, and travel to the job interviews you keep attending which never seem to be bearing fruit because you are 19 and had to take out three years of your education to care for your terminally ill grandmother. when you factor all this in, you are left with no hope. whatsoever.
you guys have truly been great, and i’m thankful for everything you donated, but the realistic look here is that my family and i are not going to be around for much longer.
i’m leaving the donation button up, but £4500 is a lot of fucking money and you guys have already given so much, so rly unless one of you has secretly been a multi-millionaire for the years i’ve known you, i don’t hold out much hope.
you know what the shittiest part of this is, aside from all the really fucking shitty shit?
my landlord is coming round on saturday to measure the rooms for when he’s evicted us and is going to expand the house.
i literally got a call telling me he was coming round to check out where the extension is going to be.
that means he knew we were going to be made homeless by this.
i cannot truly explain to you the depths of my cold rage.
how did they give madagascar like 40 movies but there isnt a sequel to the incredibles yet
trust me you don’t really want a sequel
if you don’t know who the artist is you can’t credit properly
so you just don’t post it
there
it’s that easy
#anything else is called stealing #no google is not a valid source
And those image search options seem only to work for Japanese based sites, not sites like tumblr.

I’m finally getting around to it!
Right, so I am currently unemployed, in college, and definitely short on funds. I really don’t want to rely on my folks to send me stuff either, seeing as they’re having some money troubles as well and I don’t want to burden them any more than I have to. So I’m opening commissions!
Note: As of right now, I only take PayPal.

+5USD per extra character. Backgrounds range from 5USD - 10USD depending on how detailed you want it. If you just want a bust, subtract 2USD from whatever it is you’d like to get.
As you’ve probably noticed, I draw in two styles! One is my default style and the other is more simplified, like in the 4/13 picture. Just specify which one you want. :D Also, if it’s not a character I’m familiar with, references are lovely!
I’ll draw just about anything, but if it’s too much for me I reserve the right to say no. You’d be surprised at what I’m into, though. If you’re not sure about it, don’t be afraid to ask! :D

I know times are tough for just about everyone, but even if you’re unable to help out financially I’d greatly appreciate it if you could signal boost this! Thank you~!
OH YEAH THIS IS THAT COMMISSIONS POST WHERPS
why do people reblog art whose ‘source’ is just a reblog blog?
EDIT: with no source there, might I add

A bit of fan art for Spera a delightful all-ages fantasy comic written by Josh Tierney and illustrated by the likes of Kyla Vanderklugt, Emily Carroll and Jordyn Bochon.

I have no idea why I’m awake.
Anyway, I wanted to do a photo-set of Player 1 (P.1) to compare how much he develop from his earlier design. And now I can say he changed a lot.
